Prof. Dušan Galusek
Prof. Galusek has been working in the area of structural ceramic composites, and functional glasses since 1991. After earning his PhD at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava in 1995 he spent several years working at various research institutions abroad, including Brunel University in London, University of Leeds, Darmstadt University of Technology and Karlsruhe University of Technology. He became full professor in 2013, and in 2014 obtained the degree Doctor of Science (DSc.). He coordinated more than ten national and two international research projects, authored and coauthored more than 80 peer reviewed papers in scientific journals and more than one hundred
contributions in conference proceedings, which have been cited more than 450 times. He is author and co-author of 4 books. At present he is the head of the Centre of excellence for ceramics, glass, and silicate materials, and serves as the vice-rector for research, science, and international relations of the Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín.
Prof. Marek Liška
Prof. Liška earned his M.Sc. in 1974 at the Faculty of Chemical Technology of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Slovakia. In 1978 he finished his doctoral study at the same university and obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences. In 1996 he obtained his D.Sc. and in 1997 he was appointed Associate Professor of Physical Chemistry and Chemical Physics, and in 2003 the full professor of Physical Chemistry. His main research interests include physical chemistry and chemical physics, mainly in connection with the glass science and technology. He repeatedly worked as the visiting scientist at the Institute of Silicate Chemistry, St. Petersburg, Russia. Prof. Liška published one monograph (Applications of Numerical Methods in Molecular Spectroscopy, CRC Press, Boca Raton, 1994) and one handbook (Comprehensive Dictionary of Physical Chemistry, Ellis Horwood, Associated with document Ref. Ares(2017)278766 - 18/01/2017 739566 FunGlass –Part B - 51 Chichester, 1992), 163 peer reviewed papers in international journals, which have been cited more than 300 times. He is co-author of 2 patents, and led 21 national or international research projects. At present he is the full professor of the Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín, and the head of the Joint Glass Centre of the same university.
Dr. Dagmar Galusková
Dr. Galusková works as the researcher in the Centre of excellence for ceramics, glass and silicate materials. She works in the field of silicate chemistry with main focus on chemical durability of glasses, corrosion resistance of structural ceramics and biomaterials. Her research activities include chemical analysis of materials by optical emission spectroscopy with inductively coupled plasma and microstructural and compositional analysis of inorganic materials by scanning electron microscopy. During her study stay at Technische Universität Darmstadt, Institut für Materialwissenschaft, Darmstadt, Germany, she worked on the preparation of pre-ceramic powders for novel hafnium nitrideand hafnium diboride-based ceramic nanocomposites. She earned her PhD in 2010. Dr. Galusková published 16 papers in peer reviewed scientific journals, which have been cited 15 times. At present she is leading two national research projects related to the mechanisms of corrosion and micromechanical properties of dental materials and to development of the anticorrosive layers for metal protection.
Dr. Jozef Kraxner
Dr. Jozef Kraxner works in the area of applied research of glass and ceramics and his main research interests are glass properties, mainly in connection with the glass science and technology and cooperation with the glass industry. He has been working on the preparation of glass-ceramic materials with flame synthesis. Under the supervision of Prof. Marek Liška He completed his PhD thesis on the physical properties and thermodynamic models of borosilicate glasses and melts in 2008. The project was carried out in cooperation with Johns Manville Slovakia, Trnava. He also cooperated with the glass producer RONA a.s., dealing with the influence of parameters of melting process, including burner settings (and oxygen-fuel boosting), on the melting process, and on corrosion of refractories. In 2012 he worked in the Institute of Ceramics and Glass (ICV-CSIC) in Madrid, where he worked on optimization of glass sealants for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC). Besides his research activities in 2014 he also worked in the company RONA a.s. as a technologist of glass melting. Dr. Kraxner has published 9 papers in peer reviewed scientific journals.
Dr. Andrea Černá
Dr. Černá earned her Bachelor (2008) and Master degree (2010) at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava working in the field of thermos-oxidative stability of different polymers studied by DSC method. In 2009 she held technical training in the laboratory of thermal analysis and calorimetry. She obtained PhD in Physical Chemistry in Bratislava in 2014 and started her research work in the Centre of excellence for ceramics, glass and silicate materials. At present she is the head of the laboratory of thermal analysis and calorimetry of the Centre. She is highly qualified in materials’ characterization and identification by thermoanalytical methods, with special focus at inorganic and polymeric materials. She co-authored 5 research papers in peer reviewed journals.
Dr. Milan Parchovianský
Dr. Parchovianský works as the researcher in the Centre of excellence for ceramics, glass and silicate materials. He finished his PhD. at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology in 2013. His PhD work was focused at the development of Al2O3/SiC nanocomposites with improved mechanical and functional properties. At present he works in the field of preparation of polymer derived glass ceramic coatings for high temperature corrosion protection of steel. This topic he pursued also during his research stay at the University of Bayreuth, Germany 2015 and 2016. His research activities include also the preparation of glass microspheres by flame synthesis, preparation of polymer derived ceramics coating by dip and spray coating technique, X-ray powder diffraction analysis and microstructural analysis of steels and coated materials. He published 5 papers in peer reviewed scientific journals, which have been cited 39 times.
Dr. Branislav Hruška
Dr. Hruška earned his Master degree in 2010 at the Faculty of Industrial Technologies of TNUAD. He obtained his PhD degree from the Alexander Dubček University in Trenčín in 2014, after which he started his research work at the Insitute of Inorganic Chemistry on the Slovak Academy of Science (SAS), specialized in materials characterization and identification with the use of Raman Spectroscopy. At present he works as a researcher in the Centre of excellence for ceramics, glass and silicate materials of the Alexander Dubček University of Trencin. He is highly qualified in identification of inorganic materials by spectroscopic methods. Dr. Hruška co-authored 3 research papers in peer reviewed journals.
Andrea Chrastinová, MSc., PhD.
Dr. Chrastinová is currently a Head of the Centre for Science and Research and the Legal Entity Appointed Representative (LEAR) of the Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín. She got her Master degree from Constantin the Philosopher University in Nitra, Slovakia for teacher study programme formed by double – major combination in History and French language. After she had earned her PhD degree in Educational Technology at the same university for her research on creation and the use of multimedia teaching aids, she was working for an internationally German company Hella KGaA Hueck & Co located in Slovakia as the sales team manager. About this time she acquired competences in team building, time management, effective communication theory and quality politics and management. She has taken the benefits from her own experiences during her successive employment in academia environment.

Andrea Chrastinová, MSc., PhD.
Assoc. prof. Peter Šimurka, experienced in glass research and modernization, project management in industry/academic field and top management in industrial companies. He is currently active as the researcher in the the Centre of excellence for ceramics, glass and silicate materials. He attained his diploma in Chemical Technology of Silicates in STU Bratislava (1982), his PhD. in the IICH SAS (1994) and an associated professorship in TnUAD (2004). After working as a researcher in the Research and Development Glass Institute in Trenčín (1982 – 1991) and in the IICH SAS (1991-1994) he joined the tableware glass company Rona a.s. Lednické Rovne in 1994. Here he started as the Head of the Department for modernization and continued as the Technical Investment Director, Production Director and General Director. He also served as the Executive Director in the companies Slovenský hodvab a.s. Senica and Slovglass a.s. Poltár. In 2009 he changed to the Joint Glass Centre of the IICH SAS, TnUAD and FCHT STU in Trenčín, where he has been working on and managing the projects where academic and industrial partners are participated. He is author of 7 patents and utility models and more than 50 publications in journals and Conference Proceedings. He is the Executive Secretary of the International Commission on Glass and President of the Slovak Glass Society.
Dr. Róbert Klement received his PhD degree in 2001 in physical chemistry at Faculty of Chemical Technology Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, under the supervision of Prof. Peter Pelikan. He subsequently completed postdoctoral research fellowship at ICS ULP Strasbourg, France (2001-2003) with Prof. Claude Mathis. He is author and co-author of 25 CC publication, 2 book chapters, and more than 60 conference contributions with more than 270 SCI, editor of 2 conference proceedings and supervised 2 national research projects. He is currently a senior researcher in the Centre of excellence for ceramics, glass and cement. His main research interest is focussed on the preparation and characterization of inorganic phosphors for solid state lighting and application of spectroscopic (UV-VIS-NIR, fluorescence spectroscopy – steady-state and time resolved TCSPC) and electrochemical methods in materials research.
Dr. Peter Hošták, MBA is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Social and Economic Relations at Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín. He received his MBA degree from City University of Seattle in Trenčín, Slovakia and holds a doctorate in Accounting Information and Management from Northwestern University in Chicago for research on risk measures in performance pricing debt contracts. Prior to joining academia he worked as a financial analyst at Citibank Slovakia with responsibility to carry out financial analysis of corporate clients and various strategic studies for the bank. He has taught accounting, finance and taxation courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He is an expert in financial analysis, his research interests include corporate governance mechanisms, public finance management and regional development studies He has served in various academic positions at Rush University in Chicago, University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth and City University of Seattle in Europe. His work has appeared in such academic journals as the Review of Accounting Studies, Economics and Management and Social and Economic Revue.
